An incident in the tropical pavilion of the zoo in Zlin in Czech causes broad indignation. A group of visitors would have different white head Sacis, a kind of monkeys from the northeast of South America, stroked, stroked, inappropriate and even pulled on the tail.
The zoo published video recordings of the incident and called on the public to identify the people involved.
“They not only fed the animals, but also touched, stroked and drawn to the tail,” the zoo said in a statement.
False food can also be “fatal”
The type of dishes brought with you is particularly worrying: hot dogs, fries, cookies and chocolate. These foods can cause considerable health problems in sensitive animals. “In extreme cases this can even end deadly,” warned a Zoo speaker. Chocolate is particularly dangerous.
In this context, the spokesperson reminded a tragic incident from 2009: at that time a young white headsaki died after it was delivered by visitors with unsuitable food.
Director: “Can’t monitor everything”
The tropical pavilion, in which many animals move freely, was opened in 2006 and is considered the show project of the zoo in Zlin. Zoo director Roman Horsky commented on the newspaper MF DNES about whether additional security measures could have prevented the incident: “So many people come to us, especially during holidays, that you cannot monitor everything – neither with cameras nor with people in their place.”
The city of Zlin is approximately 250 kilometers southeast of Prague and has around 74,000 inhabitants. The investigation into the incident continues.
