The venue for the Champions League final could be Lisbon!

Date:

UEFA is considering changing the venue for the final of this edition of the Champions League from Istanbul to Lisbon, as published by the Daily Mail, as there are fears of unrest due to the holding of general elections in Turkey. The second round of Turkish elections will take place on May 28 and the final of the highest continental competition will be held on June 10.

According to the aforementioned media, those responsible for UEFA made an “informal request” to the leaders of Portuguese Football Federation to find out about the existence of the Estadio Da Luz in Lisbon, venue for the 2014 and 2020 Champions League finals.

This is not the first time that the UEFA has changed venue for the final in recent times. The outbreak of war in Ukraine deprived Saint Petersburg of hosting the decisive game last season (it was played in Paris) and in 2020, due to the pandemic, a bubble was created in Portugalwhich hosted the quarterfinals and semifinals in Porto and Lisbon as a single match, as well as the final, which Bayern played behind closed doors Munich and PSG in give light. That year the final was scheduled to take place in Istanbul.

It should be noted that the competition is in the semifinals, including the qualifiers Real Madrid-Manchester City (1-1) and Milan-Inter (0-2) pending resolution of the return matches to be played next week.
