Luka Modric, Croatian midfielder for Real Madrid, defended the continuation of Carlo Ancelotti on the bench after the win against him City of Manchesterand assured that he “deserves to continue” after winning all the titles in his second stint.
“The coach deserves to continue, I have no doubt. Since he came in his second stage, he has won all the titles. Last year was an incredible season. This season until the World Cup, we were very good in LaLiga fighting for everything, then the defeats came that we did not want to have, it was not thought”, he analyzed.
“It’s football but I think so Cups and Champions we are doing very well so far. Therefore, for me, there is no doubt in its continuation. He deserves it for everything he does and has done, what he brings to the team with his experience. For this defeat, there is no need to make any drama”, added to the mixed zone of the Etihad Stadium.
After the 4-0 draw, Modric admitted they would accept constructive criticism, admitting they were inferior to City and didn’t deserve to go to the Champions League final. “When Madrid lose, everything becomes huge. With every defeat there is a lot of analysis and criticism but that’s why we’re here. You have to live with that, we’re used to it. Criticism will not sink us, some are constructive and we accept them after such defeat. City have gotten better but this team still has a lot to give”, assured.
“This is sport, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Today we are not good and they deserve to go through. We wanted to play a good game but City were superior. You have to assimilate this defeat first and then see what happens, but this team has a lot to give and will bring a lot of joy to Real Madrid without a doubt”, he concluded.
