De Boer: “Criticism doesn’t just come, Van Nistelrooy is to blame”

Date:

Ruud Van Nistelrooy announced a few days ago that he was leaving PSV. The Dutch coach is in the crosshairs of the board and has several players from the squad against him, according to some Dutch media. So he decided to leave ‘of his own accord’, after the team failed to mathematically qualify for the Champions League.

From there, the ban was opened to the opinions of everyone: the media, press analysts, former players… The departure of the former international and former player of Manchester United did not leave anyone indifferent and caused all kinds of comments.

Ronald de Boer (53), a former team-mate, said: “Usually a home game against SC Heerenveen is a sure win and then you’ve got a Champions League pass. What happened to Ruud van Nistelrooy was not can be written with a pen.”

“I think he is brave to leave, especially if Fred Rutten and André Ooijer, his left and right hand, and some players no longer support him. Since Ruud is financially independent it seems easier to leave , but given his character it wouldn’t surprise me if he did anyway,” said De Boer, who believes Van Nistelrooy “must look good and be self-critical.”

“This dissatisfaction with him is no accident. He should ask himself why people think what they think of him. Ruud is definitely to blame for that. It would be good for him to examine himself for next job,” he said.
