In the municipality of Prutz in Tyrol (Landeck district), an already heavily decomposed carcass of a wolf was found on Friday near the B 180 Reschenstraße. The dead animal has been recovered and is now being taken to Innsbruck for examination by the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES).
“It is unclear whether the exact cause of death can be determined,” the country said. According to the police, there was a correctly reported natural disaster in mid-May in which the animal involved was unknown and was not found.
DNA found in deer tear
In the Landeck district, a wolf was photographed by a wildlife camera in the municipality of Ried im Oberinntal at the end of March this year. At the beginning of February, the DNA of a wolf was found in a deer that had been killed in the municipality of Serfaus. Here, too, the person can be identified. It was a wolf that was first registered in Austria with the designation 194 MATK.
