Many names are being floated as candidates to replace Luciano Spalletti at the helm of Naples, new champions of the ‘scudetto’ after a 33-year wait.
Luis Enrique (released), Rafael Benítez, Antonio Conte, Vincenzo Italiano, Thiago Motta... These are some of the names that have appeared in the Italian media to fill the vacancy Spalletti will leave.
Roberto Mancini, the current Italian coach, is also on this long list and now the newspaper Corriere dello Sport announced that Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, had contacted him.
Refusal by the Italian Federation
However, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) responded to this information and denied any kind of contact between Napoli and the coach.
“The coach of the Italian national team, Roberto Mancini, did not receive a call from Aurelio De Laurentiis or of his emissaries who will sit in the court of Naples”, assured the sources of the FIGC in the ANSA agency,
FIGC claims that Mancini has a contract until 2026 in front of the ‘azzurra’.
