A group of CGT union members attacked and briefly blockaded on Tuesday the headquarters of the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. during a national day of protests called today against pension reform in France.
An unknown number of CGT members entered the building, located in Aubersvilliers, on the northern outskirts of Paris, while several dozen stood in front of the doors with banners and flags chanting slogans.
“Without retirement, there is no JO“(Olympic Games) was one of the phrases chanted by the protesters.
Attacking some important buildings became the strategy of the French syndicalists in some previous protests against pension reform, like on April 20, when they did it at the headquarters of Euronext, the company that manages the Paris Stock Exchange, in the financial district of La Defense.
Meanwhile, protesters have started marching in about 250 calls for today across the country.
In Paris, the demonstration began at 12 noon from the esplanade of Les Invalides at the end of the Plaza d’Italia.
Authorities planned a deployment of around 11,000 police, 4,000 of them in Parisfearing that small groups of radicals from the so-called “Black bloc” could cause violent incidents like the May 1st protests.
