Jarred Bowen, scorer of West Ham United’s winning goal against Fiorentina in the Conference League final, said he had always dreamed of “scoring the winning goal in the last minute” and that it was the most important game of his sports career.
Bowen made it 1-2 for England in the 90th minute to give West Ham their first title in 43 years and their first European title in 58.
“I always dreamed of scoring the winner in the last minute. It’s what you always want to do, but to do it in front of our fans. I thought I was going to cry,” Bowen told BT Sport.
“We had a dream. It wasn’t our best season, with me, but to give this moment to the fans… I’m in a cloud. I’ve never felt like this. It was the most important game of my career.”
