“Alonso, I don’t know what he did, but he ‘killed’ everyone!”

Date:

Gustavo Menezesone of the stars of Peugeot Motorsport in the Endurance World Championship, praised Fernando Alonso’s adaptation to this category (2018 and 2019) and his incredible return to F1. When asked by the Spanish press at a round table about the huge family created between the pilots and the teams in an appointment like 24 Hours of Le Mans And how surprising this Asturian communion was when he competed (and won) in 2018 and 2019, the American driver also mentioned how surprised he was by the performance shown by the man from Oviedo in F1 with Aston Martin.

“It’s crazy. After this race, everyone will leave as a family, because we spent two weeks together all day, from morning to night, sharing moments of many emotions. And for someone like Alonso, who spent 20 years in F1 always driving alone (in the WEC you share a car with two other drivers through relays), it’s very different.” He spoke of the great hospitality Peugeot had at his home appointment, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I don’t know what happened to him but he did everything right. He killed them all!” he said laughing.using that Spanish expression with a positive meaning, as a clear reference to the great performance the man from Oviedo is showing against the current F1 grid. “And now I know I have 15 or 20 more years of racing. To see Alonso doing what he’s doing at the age of 41… means I still have a lot of time.”, pointed out the 28-year-old pilot.
