David Raya is quite close to Tottenham, the club showing the most interest in signing him. According to Fabrizio Romano, a journalist specializing in the market, the Barcelona goalkeeper, 27 years old and currently committed to the Spanish team, is close to reaching an agreement with the ‘spurs’ board.
The talks Raya is holding with Tottenham are on track and both sides are close to agreeing on the terms of a long-term contract.
With the player OK, Tottenham will now focus on the most complex part of the operation since Brentford, the club Raya joined in July 2019 for 3.3 million euros, asking for 40 million pounds (46.7 million euros) for the dismissal of his starting goalkeeper, a very high figure according to ‘spurs’ considering that next season he will enter the final contract, which expires in June 2024, due to the player’s desire not to renew.
The only one to beat City twice
Raya has become one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in the Premier League after completing another outstanding season with Brentford, helping them to ninth in the final standings. Indeed it has been the only team capable of winning two league games (1-2 at the Etihad and 1-0 at home) at Manchester City, fresh from winning the treble after winning the Champions League on Saturday.
