Nicaragua was kicked out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Monday for using a ineligible player in eight matches and will be replaced in the Trinidad and Tobago tournament. The North American, Central American and Caribbean Soccer Confederation reported that the decision was made by its disciplinary committee. He did not specify the ineligible player and said some of the matches included Nations League fixtures.
Trinidad and Tobago will open on June 24 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, against the winner of the qualifiers between Curaçao, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana and Saint Martin. The Soca Warriors will face Jamaica four days later in St. Louis and will close Group A against the United States on July 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Antigua and Barbuda will replace Trinidad in the qualifying phase and will play Guadalupe on Friday in Fort Lauderdale. The winner will face either Grenada or French Guiana on Sunday for a spot in Group D of the tournament along with Canada, Cuba and Guatemala.
Nicaragua was relegated in Group B of the next League of Nations from CONCACAF and replaced in Group A by Trinidad.
