the dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), renowned leader of the Formula One World Championship, which will first start this Sunday at Canadian Grand Prixeighth in the race, declared this Saturday at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal that it will be “a long race, where many things can happen” and that they “need to be aware of everything” to achieve a new success.
“Today we are making the right decisions at the right time. It is very important to have proper communication with the team and be on top of everything, because the weather changes every minute; and we are very clear on what we want to do”, explained the Dutch star, who this Saturday signed his fifth ‘pole’ of the season -the twenty-fifth in F1- and leads the World Cup with 170 points, 53 more than his teammate, the Mexican Sergio Pérez -twelfth on the grid- and with 71 against the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who will start third this Sunday.
“It’s good to push the car to the max, despite the track conditions”commented ‘Mad Max’, who signed his fifth victory of the season at the Montmeló circuit (Barcelona) two Sundays ago; with a ‘Grand Slam’ -starting from pole position, leading from start to finish and setting the fastest lap- where he officially presented his candidacy for a third consecutive title.
“I like this track; and in the wet is more demanding”declared the Dutch super-predator after clearly dominating qualifying for the eighth race of the year.
“It’s hard to say what will happen tomorrow. I felt good during the long run this morning (when he also led the time table for the third and last free practice), so hopefully we will have a good race pace”, said the new sporting idol of the Netherlands, who this Sunday is the goal for his 41st victory in Formula One.
“It’s a long race, where many things can happen, so we have to be aware and above all”Verstappen said this Saturday in Montreal.
