Splish, splash, where are you going in the lake, please? Free access to the lake is very popular during the increasingly hotter summers, which is why the state of Upper Austria set up its own project group “Extension of access to the lake” in 2020. What has she achieved so far? We bring an overview of new bathing options!
According to Markus Achleitner (ÖVP), Regional Councilor for Tourism, the main task of the project group is to locate areas for possible extensions to the local lakes and to check their suitability as public access to the lake. How successful has this “reconnaissance mission” been so far? We asked Achleitner.
The answer in summary: “Since 2021, eight new bathing areas and free lake access have been added by Landesimmobilien GmbH and Bundesforste, creating an additional 1.2 hectares of sunbathing areas. The ninth project this year is the extension of the Treml area / Weyregg Süd on the Attersee.” Details about these and other new bathing options follow here.
