The experience of assignments carried out throughout the season just ended can be considered positive in general terms. Some of the rojiblancos who had to pack their bags were called up to be part of the first team, possibly even at the start of the next campaign. Others, on the other hand, had to find a new destination.
Among parts of Valverde’s final squad, half a dozen of them knew in their day what it meant to pack their bags to show they could have a place at home. Unai Simón, for example, ended up at Elche, although did not make his debut in an official match against the Elche team, as Kepa’s departure forced a new turn in Athletic’s goal.
Vivian established herself as a lion after her move to Mirandés. Balenziaga, who will not continue in the rojiblanca discipline, had to play on loan at Numancia and later at Valladolid. Vesga also went through Sporting and Leganés.
The black pudding, injured midway through the season, was loaned out to Valladolid last season and Guruzeta returned to Athletic after spells at Sabadell and even Amorebieta.
