Alcaraz: “When we’re in the quarterfinals I want to win”

Date:

Carlos Alcarazwho defeated Jiri Lehecka on Thursday, ensured that the expectations on to Queen changed and what now he wants to win the tournament.

“My first quarters at Queen’s, I am very happy with my level now and I hope to continue at this high level in the quarterfinals”said the Murcian, who will face Grigor Dimitrov in the next round.

“A little bit,” the Spaniard answered about whether expectations have changed from the start of the tournament to now. “After seeing the level we showed, how I felt, expectations have changed. Now I feel capable of getting good results here. It gives me a lot of confidence for the next rounds and for Wimbledon.”

“Winning the tournament is not in my mind, far from it; the goal is to feel better and better. When we’re in the quarters I want to win. By not putting me as one of the favorites, which I’m not, the pressure is off and you’re more relaxed about playing.”

After defeating Lehecka in two sets, the Spaniard went to one of the training courts to exercise for a few minutes.

“I was very happy with my game, but I can always improve. Samuel told me to do some drills, forehands and serves just to feel better. But that doesn’t mean I’m not happy with the way I’m playing. I’m not worried with my physique, I’m happy with everything I’m doing now.”
