Yesterday Friday we knew that Jose Mourinho sent a letter to UEFA where he announced his decision to quit being part of the ‘UEFA Football Board’, a group of experts, coaches and players set up at the beginning of the year to discuss the rules of football. Group where there are also other coaches like Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benítez, Ronald Koeman, the coach of Portugal, Roberto Martínez, legends like Patrick Vieira, Luís Figo or Zinedine Zidane.
In that letter from Mourinho addressed to the former player and now member of UEFA; Zvonimir Boban, denounced the change of position of the highest European body. “I regret to report that, effective immediately, I am resigning my participation in this group. The principles that I fully believed in when I joined the group are no longer there and I am forced to make this decision.” He also requests that this be communicated to President Aleksander Ceferin.
According to sources consulted by MD, this letter from the Portuguese coach will come late. That is, UEFA had previously decided not to rely on the Portuguese and excluded him from this group of experts as a result of what happened in the final of the last Europa League. For his behavior in the press conference after the match and especially his attitude towards the president of the referees Roberto Rosetti and the refereeing team led by the Englishman Anthony Taylor in the parking lot of the same stadium. In this last case with insults to the referee shouting “shame on you” and “shame on you”, a situation that caused the referee to also suffer an unpleasant episode at the airport with his partner of Roma fans.
So this resignation of the Portuguese came late because UEFA’s decision was taken early to exclude him from this advisory board.
