Paddle tennis headed to the Olympics for the first time in Krakow European Gamesa “historical” fact for a referent such as Alexander Whitepresident of Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).
For the first time in its history, paddle tennis has achieved a place to be included as an official discipline in one of the formats of Olympic Games and this week the first Olympic competition will be held at the European Games in Krakow.
A fact that, in statements to the FIP, the highest representative of Spain in the Olympic movement wanted to highlight, describing the participation as a great success.
“The paddle This is the sport that has grown the most in recent years. in terms of practitioners and spectators, and being here at the European Games is undoubtedly a great achievement”, said Blanco, also highlighting the work of the International Padel Federation (FIP) and its highest representative, Luigi Carraro.
An Olympic dream, which for the president of the COE should focus on how to achieve it and not on the bottom. “I think the important thing is that it doesn’t come quickly to a certain goal, but rather how and by what path to get there. I speak from experience”, he assured, while examining this idea. “We should not think about the goal to achieve but how we will do it step by step and this aspect will be important to aim to participate in the Olympic Games, always considering how paddle tennis is the sport that has grown the most in recent years”, he analyzed.
One competition, the Olympic, in which the inclusion of mixed paddle tennis is essential, is a non-professional modality and is not used among the elite.
“Having introduced the mixed in the European Games is a real step forward for the needs of the Olympic movement. Paddle tennis is experiencing an extraordinary moment, it is true, but I say that the best moment for this sport is yet to come, because we are facing growth without limits”, he explained.
