The Spanish Paralympic Committee established the selection criteria for Paris 2024

Date:

The General Assembly of the Spanish Paralympic Committee approved this Wednesday the criteria that athletes must meet to be selected for the 2024 Paris Games in each of the twenty-two modalities of the official program.

The selection criteria of Spanish athletes for the Paris 2024 Games are established by the sports federations responsible for each modalityin collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee.

Among them, the minimum scores, the results, the positions in the international ranking and the other requirements that the athletes must accredit to be part of the Spanish Paralympic team in the French event are set, depending on the specific characteristics of each. specialty.

These selection criteria are more demanding than the classification criteria established by the International Paralympic Committee and are intended to ensure that the limited number of places assigned to Spain are distributed objectively based on the athlete’s merits. Mere compliance with international requirements does not guarantee participation in the Games.

In two of the sports that traditionally have the largest number of Spanish participants (athletics and swimming) this quota is distributed through a system of minimum marks. Athletes who prove a minimum of A will guarantee their attendance at the Games, while those who obtain a minimum of B, which is less demanding, will only be in Paris if the places assigned to Spain are not fully covered by the minimum that A.

In your meeting, The General Assembly also reported on the steps being taken to give the Spanish Paralympic Committee its own headquartersby requesting the transfer of premises to the General Treasury of Social Security, in the Centro district of Madrid, where the entity’s offices will be moved in the near future, currently inside the building of the Higher Sports Council.

The CPE governing body also reviewed and approved the annual accounts for 2022, as well as the Social Report corresponding to that year. In addition, it assumed the inclusion of two new members: the president of the Higher Sports Council, Víctor Francos; and the General Director of Sports, Fernando Molinero.

The Ordinary Assembly, held electronically, was attended by the Infanta Doña Elena, Honorary President of the entity, as well as the Secretary of State for Sport, Víctor Francos, and the president of the CPE, Miguel Carballeda.
