The players of England is frustrated and disturbed by FA (English football association) after talks about performance-related bonuses they will be destroyed ‘The Guardian’ says that the team will not receive any awards related to the performance here world Australia and New Zealand, and internationals believe the FA is using FIFA’s introduction of individual bonuses as an excuse to avoid doing so because of their work for the federation in the tournament.
It should be noted that, in the past, FIFA distributed money to the federations and it was at their discretion whether they shared any of that amount with the players. However, FIFA recently announced that they will be allocated specific amounts for their participation in the World Cup, with each player who competes in the group stage receiving £24,000 and £270,000 for each player who wins the final.
According to ‘The Guardian’, the FA considers that the money allocated to the players, won together with the world players union (Fifpro), is from the same pot of money that would have been given and from which it made Payment. The FA’s argument is that all FIFA has done is determine the amount that should go to the players from that total prize money to ensure that every player in the tournament is paid. However, the total money available to federations and players increased significantly, from $30 million to $110 million.
A source close to the players believes they were led to believe the performance awards were to be introduced by the FA only for FIFA’s announcement to provoke an unwillingness to negotiate what they thought was a very reasonable request. Indeed, teams from other federations with collective bargaining agreements, including the United States, benefit from performance-related bonus deals separate from FIFA’s money.
FIFA has clarified that their allocation for players is base level and not a ceiling and understands that the ‘Leonas’ are disappointed. So they feel they should do something about it despite being asked not to do anything so soon after the World Cup starts.
