Shortly before 04:00 Monday morning, the main fire station in Villach, the FF Drobollach and the FF Wernberg were alerted to a traffic accident on the Karawanken Autobahn: five people were cared for by the Red Cross and taken to the LKH Villach.
According to the warning, one person was detained, which was not confirmed. The five people were able to leave the vehicle on the verge through the tailgate.
Large contingent of forces
A tow company recovered the car. After an hour and a half, the fire brigade – they had turned out with 40 men -, the highway police, ASFINAG and the rescue service were able to enter again.
The driver (a 49-year-old Slovenian) said he went into a microsleep after which the car left the road, hit the embankment and stopped there. The car was a total loss.
