Sha’Carri Richardson with a time of 10.82, and Cravont Charleston, with a time of 9.95, won the 100m finals at the United States Track and Field Championships which was contested in Oregon and they got the tickets for the World Cups in Budapest next August.
Richardson couldn’t better the series’ 10.71, a personal best of the year which stopped after a few hours, when the Jamaican Shericka Jackson, in the qualifiers for her country, conquered the hectometer in 10.65.
After Richardson, who had a poor start but reacted in time, Britanny Brown, 10.90, and Tamari Davis, 10.99, also qualified for Budapest, completing the podium at the US championships.
They will be the first world championships for Richardson, who was selected for 2021 but has been sanctioned. for using cannabis and also missed the Olympics for it.
In the men’s 100 Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles were surprised by Cravont Charleston’s 9.95who will also attend the world championships for the first time.
Coleman, world champion in 2019, crossed the finish line in 9.96 and Lyles, double 200 m world champion, and running in Oregon once covid passed, was third with 10.00. They will also go to Budapest.
Anna Hall defends her national heptathlon title and will have the option to compete with Hungary to improve on the bronze of the previous edition of the World Cup.
The US Championships continue through Sunday.
