Cristian Alvarez: “We cannot speak at this stage of the promotion”

Date:

Cristian Álvarez, goalkeeper of Real Zaragoza, emphasized that today we cannot talk about promotion to the First Division but instead “we are working hard to have a very good year”.

“There is a lot of excitement around the team and we need to focus on the preseason because there is still a long way to go to build the squad and we need to get to know each other. We know where we are and Football is alive with joy. We have wonderful- huge fans over a huge number of partners and it’s wonderful and very positive but you have to have patience and respect for the category,” he added at a press conference.

The Argentine goalkeeper pointed out that the season should face the humility of knowing that what leads to great goals is “daily and weekly work and playing individually”.

“We have to get that illusion but with the mature head we manage at the club after so many years of living in the Second Division”, he indicated.

In this regard, he added that in the locker room it is not promotion that is discussed but how well the team is prepared.

The goalkeeper, who will be celebrating his seventh year as a Zaragocista, revealed that all these years he thought that this was the year of promotion and he never wavered from that thought.

“I think the same. The years have passed and I know what it means to rise in this city, something unique for any professional footballer. I continue with the same mentality”, he assured.

Cristian Alvarez, who is the third foreign player with the most caps for Real Zaragoza with 223 behind Leo Ponzio and Gustavo Poyet, explained that it is not something he is looking at or what is pending.

“I see him when I’m not playing. Now I live every day and can go to the field every weekend. My goal is to continue to enjoy football”, he declared.
