Accident in Villach – cars collided with trucks: one driver died

Date:

A terrible accident took place in Villach on Tuesday. A driver had to lose his life.

The medical rescuers, the police and the main fire station in Villach were presented with a terrible picture: a car may have crashed into a lorry, the lorry may have turned off and a second car may have crashed into it. The exact course of the accident is still being recorded.

It is clear that one driver did not survive the accident. A driver was seriously injured.

The main fire station in Villach and the local fire brigade in Pogöriach were alerted to the serious traffic accident with a trapped person at around 4:52 p.m.

A car collided with a truck on B86 Villacher Straße. Another vehicle was also involved in the collision. “Since the accident site was located directly behind the FF Möltschach fire station, this was also alarming,” said Alexander Scharf of the main fire station in Villach.

When the technical train from the main fire station arrived at the scene of the accident, it became clear that a car was stuck in the guardrail and a woman was trapped. Her passenger was freed and cared for by the rescue service present.

Another car got stuck under a truck some 100 yards away. According to the emergency doctor, all help came too late for the driver of this vehicle.

The main fire station was able to rescue the driver, who was still in the vehicle, using two hydraulic rescue kits. “She was treated by the emergency medical team of the rescue helicopter RK1 and flown to hospital with serious injuries,” reports operations manager Harald Geissler, commander of the main fire station.

The person who died in the accident also had to be rescued using hydraulic rescue equipment. In order to do this, the truck had to be lifted slightly to make this possible.

After an extensive police investigation, which was carried out with the support of the police helicopter, the clean-up work could begin. A towing company recovered the vehicles. Resources had to be tied up.

The Villach main fire station was deployed with 5 vehicles and 30 men, as well as the Pogöriach fire brigade and the Möltschach fire brigade, as well as the police, the Red Cross and RK1. The B86 was completely closed in this area for the duration of the accident.
