Spaniard Mohamed Attaoui won this Saturday the silver medal in the 1,500-meter race at the European Athletics Under-23 Championships which was contested in the Finnish town of Espoo, where the national team already has seven metals.
Attaoui finished second with a time of 3:43.63, surpassed only by Dutchman Stefan Nillessen, who leads him by 28 hundredths. The podium was completed by Swede Samuel Pihlström (3:43.73).
In the same test, Pol Oriach finished fifth with a time of 3:44.85.
before, Yasiel Sotero and Marta Serrano each got a bronze medal in the discus throw and 3,000 meter obstacles.
Sotero, a Spaniard who came from Cuba, got the bronze medal in the discus throw with a mark of 61.69 meters. He was overtaken by the Lithuanian Mykolas Alekna (68.34, championship record) and the German Marius Karges (62.56).
Spaniard Marcos Moreno also won in fifth place with a mark of 57.40 meters.
Sotero also won the bronze medal in the European sub-23 of 2021 and the sub-20 gold in 2019.
The sixth medal for Spain so far in Espoo was signed by Marta Serranonational record holder in the category (9:27:07), finishing third in the 3,000-meter hurdles race with a time of 9:41.47.
The daughter of the legendary Antonio Serrano finished behind the new continental champion, German Olivia Gürth (9:26.98, championship record) and the Lithuanian Greta Karinauskaitė (9:30.96).
