This year, the Raimundspiele Gutenstein (Lower Austria) will perform a world premiere by Peter Turrini on the stage of the Bleichgarten with “It must be separate”. A lot of potential with the spirit of the times and a fantastic ensemble ensured standing ovations from the audience at the premiere on Thursday.
Intendant Johannes Krisch says goodbye to his last season at the Raimundspiele Gutenstein with a world premiere by Peter Turrini. In “It Must Be Divorced” the author focuses on the theater itself: here Raimund finds himself in the middle of the revolutionary year 1848, a bitter struggle for free art, independence and survival breaks out. Filled with allusions, promising approaches sometimes fall short of expectations. Yet the link to the present succeeds: the palette ranges from bribery to submission, bondage and, above all, dependence.
