China responds to Trump with a rate of 34% for all American products from 10 April

Date:

The Chinese Ministry of Finance has emphasized that Trump’s measures on Chinese export to the United States are a practice “incompatible with international trade standards”.

The Chinese government has announced that “from 10 April 2025” will impose a rate of 34% On all the import of products with origin in the United States in response to the protectionist measures announced by US President Donald Trump on 2 April.

The Chinese Ministry of Finance has remembered that Trump’s measures on Chinese export to the United States are a practice “incompatible with international trade standards“, who seriously undermines the legitimate rights and interests of China and forms a typical practice of” unilateral intimidation “that does not only harm the interests of the United States, but also endangers the global economic development and stability of production and supply chain.

In response to these measures in Washington and in accordance with the laws of the People’s Republic of China, “as well as the basic principles of international law”, the rate committee of the State Council has announced that additional rates of 34% will be imposed on all imported goods from the United States from 10 April.

In that sense, the Chinese Ministry has encouraged the United States to immediately cancel its unilateral tariff measures and to resolve commercial differences through consultations in a way fair, respectful and mutual affordable.

Last Wednesday, Trump announced what the US president called the ‘Day of Liberation’, the 34% rates for import from China, an extra retention right at the above rates of 20%, which would mean a tax of 54% for Chinese products.
