Croatia beat Belgium, Spain’s rival on Friday in the Hopman Cup with Alcaraz

Borna Coric and Donna Vekic led to the first success of Croatia in Hopman Cup of Nice (France)on clay, after losing Belgium (2-1), represented by elise mertens and david goffinin the opening duel of Group B of the Hopman Cup, resolved in a mixed doubles clash.

The Croatian team takes advantage of a group stage completed by Spain, with Carlos Alcaraz and Rebeka Masarova, and that will work on Friday.

And that the Belgian team put the confrontation on the right track with the victory of Elise Mertens against Donna Vekic by double 6-2, in 71 minutes, in the women’s individual clash.

But then Borna Coric, the fifteenth-ranked player in the world, leveled the picture by beating Goffin 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 in one hour and 36 minutes.

The confrontation was resolved in the mixed doubles clash. Vekic and Coric won 7-6(5), 3-6 and 10-6 to give the Croatian team their first win.

The second day of Group B will be played on Friday. It was the performance of the Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz, with Masarova. Spain will face Belgium, which will complete the group stage.
