Alonso: “I’m happy”

Date:

Fernando Alonso the first day of training is over F1 Hungarian GP with the eighth fastest time in the second session, 0″4 behind Leclerc’s best time, on a day where the conditions may not be very representative due to the presence of clouds and a lower temperature than expected for on Saturday or for the race. Much is expected of Aston Martin in a circuit like hungrywhich should increase the power of the green car, as it goes through the slow curve. However, on the first day, it was remarkable to see the McLaren de Norris with a slightly better race pace with medium rubber than the green car, which for its part drove faster than Mercedes in Free Practice 2 where Ferrari did not give hints by working more than soft.

Regardless, it’s Friday and things could still be different. Each team keeps its cards. So far, Alonso is positive with the data collected and has completed the maximum work plan on a day where Free Practice 1 was not helped much by the rain.

“It has been a positive day, in general. Logically, after the rain in FP1 we all had less time to test everything in Free Practice 2. But we have been able to collect good data and see what we can do tomorrow”, He commented as he got out of the car before the F1 microphone.

“It was a mixed day with a bit of rain and wind at the Hungaroring. We lost time in FP1 and we didn’t have much time on the track, but it was the same for everyone. I think we maximized FP2 and collected lots of useful data, especially in preparation for race conditions. Overall, I’m pretty happy today and we’ll see what we can do tomorrow in qualifying if it’s dry.”Alonso also stated in the team’s statement that he prefers ‘qualification’ without the presence of rain that is not expected to come.
