The Argentine circuit of Saint John Willicum, The twelfth, and final, round of the Superbike world championship has been cancelled, according to the organization of the competition, but it will be moved to another location to be confirmed.
The Argentine test, which closed the 2023 Superbike World Championship, and was scheduled between October 13 and 15 at the San Juan Villicum Circuit, was canceled due to the intense electoral calendar facing the country, which resulted in a complex situation affecting the daily lives of people, provinces and companies.
So, considering the proximity of the next national and provincial elections, the Dorna WSBK Organization (DWO), Grupo OSD, and the government of San Juan, chose to suspend the event in the San Juan Villicum circuit.
In addition, the round was scheduled on the eve of the transfer of government in the province, and it was decided to wait and keep the calendar of events open for the new administration, showing respect for the political context and allowing adequate planning for events of the magnitude of the Superbike World Championship.
The FIM and the Dorna WSBK Organization will soon announce a new venue that will host the final round of the 2023 season, where one of the candidates could be the Spanish circuit of Jerez de la Frontera.
