Imanol García de Albéniz, in the way of his teammate Unai Gómez, was a happy man on Saturday at the rojiblanco stadium despite Athletic’s defeat against the meringues.
“We know it will be difficult because Madrid, in the end, is one of the best teams in the world and will fight for the best. Going 0-2 at halftime is complicated because the game is uphill for you. The second part we showed our faces and saw the image we want the team to see. Hopefully next week we can get a better result”, he points out.
The 23-year-old left-back from Biscay was greeted with applause by the San Mamés crowd. “In the end you remember everything, all your coaches at Lezama. From the exit to Miranda and Eibar, from family and friends. A day I will never forget. Hanging out in the dressing room and playing with people I saw on TV, who became idols… The result is a shame”.
