Traffic stopped – motorcyclist injured in collision with car

When a car turned off, there was a collision with a motorcycle in Peggau (Graz region) on Sunday. The 40-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured. He was flown to hospital.

At around 5:15 p.m., a 47-year-old motorist from the Leoben district drove north on the B67. When he turned left at the so-called “Schusterbühel” near Peggau in the direction of the A9 or S35, he must have overlooked the oncoming motorcyclist from the Graz area. The 40-year-old hit the right side of the car and fell.

A patrol from the Graz Police Service Dog Inspection who happened to pass by shortly afterwards provided first aid and informed other emergency services. The 40-year-old man was quickly on the scene, but was probably seriously injured. He was taken by rescue helicopter C12 to the regional hospital in Graz, where he underwent surgery in the evenings. His exact health condition is unknown at this time.

Mutual arrests
Traffic on the B67 had to be halted alternately in the vicinity of the accident site until about 6:30 p.m. The motorcycle had to be towed. The 47-year-old was unharmed. There was no evidence that he was under the influence of alcohol.
