“I’m very lucky and I want to thank the PGA Tour for the opportunities I’ve had in my career so far. I’m excited to see what the future holds for my golf career.”

For its part, LIV Golf showed its joy in including the Mexican on its circuit.

“Abraham Ancer is a rising star who has established himself as one of the best golfers in the world in a very short time,” Legendary former golfer Greg Norman, CEO of LIV Golf, said in a statement.

Norman also stressed that Ancer’s arrival will allow this Saudi tour to have a greater impact in Mexico and Latin America.

Ancer will make his debut at the LIV Golf Invitational Portland, which begins June 30 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Oregon (USA).

Other possible names

Faced with the official announcement that Ancer will be leaving the PGA Tour, rumors continue in the golf world about possible names to join LIV Golf.

At this point, The ‘ESPN’ chain confirmed on Tuesday that American Brooks Koepka, who has won four ‘majors’ and is formerly world number one, will also leave the American circuit and sign for the Saudi touralthough there is still no official confirmation about it.

With significant economic incentives and prizes for its players, LIV Golf is an initiative supported by Saudi Arabia and seeks to organize a circuit that rivals the US-based tour in quality and prestige.

After weeks of gossip and suspicion, the PGA Tour took a step forward in mid -May by denying permission for its touring players to compete in the LIV Golf Invitational Series, which is the first round of this competition and played in London from June 9 to 11.

This caused players like Spaniard Sergio García, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen, among others, to leave the PGA Tour towards LIV Golf.

Instead, players like Jon Rahm of Spain reaffirmed their commitment to the PGA Tour and openly criticized Saudi LIV Golf.

“Yes, the (LIV) prizes are very good. Will my lifestyle change if I have 400 million? No, I won’t change one bit. I can retire now and have a very happy life without having to play golf again. Because in money, I play for the love of the game and I want to compete against the best, ”Rahm said last week at the US Open. EFE
