He Bayern Munich has denounced the racist insults uttered on the internet against the French striker Mathys’ phone after the 3-0 defeat suffered by the German champions in the super cup against RB Leipzig. “Whoever wrote such disgusting racist comments is not a fan of FC Bayern,” the German club said in a press release.

“Mathys, we are with you and you have our support,” the statement added. Tel, who is 18 years old and a bet on Bayern’s future, said he would not let the insults get to him. “They can’t achieve anything and they can’t affect anything. I’m here to grow and every day I learn something new. I’m thankful for my true family that supports me, whether the weather is good or raining,” Tel said on his Instagram account.

Don’t chalk up an unfortunate performance against Leipzig by missing some clear scoring opportunities that could have changed the history of the match. After the game, comments appeared calling for Tel to leave the club accompanied by racist insults and emoticons depicting a monkey. Meanwhile, many of the comments were deleted and displays of solidarity with Tel.
