The Castellón Josele Ballester (+3) will not fight for the title in US Amateur 2023 which was debated this week on the route of Cherry Hills in Denver.
The only Spanish golfer present at this prestigious and difficult event on the amateur calendar was eliminated from the stroke play stage, after delivering a 70-stroke card on Tuesday in Colorado Golf Club.
He current European champion, individual and team, fight to the end to qualify and offer a lesson in honor. The problem was Monday’s card of 76 strokes (+5), a result that left him far from the target, with much to recover.
Just 21 players dropped 70 strokes at Colorado Golf Club on Tuesday, putting Ballester on his best days. At least 312 players started the tournament on Monday and after 36 holes only 64 were ahead of the match play stage. Finally, the cut with exactly 64 players closed with a result of Par.
