Date:

Mikel Artetacoach of Arsenalsupported P’s complaints this Thursdayep Guardiolatechnician of City of Manchester, regarding the calendar and playing time and said it was too much and footballers should be taken care of. Arsenal announced on Wednesday the operation for Jurrien Timber, who will have to undergo surgery after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

“It also happened to Buendía, Courtois, Militao. Something happens. There used to be games, tours, but now there are more games, more tours, World Cup, international commitments. There are too many, it’s too much for the players”, said Arteta this Thursday in a press conference.

“It’s very demanding for the players, it’s better not to look at the calendar for the next 36 months because what they’re going to do is unbelievable,” added the Spaniard.

“We have to take care of it, but as a club, when are you going to do it? Prioritizing other competitions? What should happen is that we sit down and talk about it, but I think it’s too late; for the next 36 it’s a month late now I don’t know who should raise their voice, but there is concern,” he said.

Guardiola this week strongly criticized the calendar and his Manchester City’s meager preparations for the European Super Cup, as well as the referees’ decision to extend discounts. In addition, the Catalan coach ironically yesterday after beating Sevilla in a penalty shootout thanked the Premier League for playing them this weekend on Saturday, instead of Sunday or Monday: “Thank you very much,” he said.
