The extreme Luis Henriquefrom Real Betis, was not called up by the Olympic team of Brazil by a investigation open a case bet sports, as reported this Friday by Brazilian Olympic national coach Ramon Menezes.
Luiz Henrique will be included in the squad for Brazil’s two friendlies in September against Morocco, but Menezes did not include him for the betting case. “I will also tell the truth. Luiz Henrique is a player called up. Let’s wait and see. In the next few hours, I will give another name” to replace him, Menezes said at a press conference.
The case of Luiz Henrique is related to Lucas Paqueta, West Ham midfielder, who was excluded of the call for the senior team announced this Friday, due to a betting research opened by the English Federation. “It is a matter of caution, to let him solve these issues, which are more than soccer, to let him solve (the matter). We had these problems (of illegal betting) here in Brazil and It takes time for things to be cleared up”, affirmed the full Brazilian coach, Fernando Diniz -until the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti-, in another press conference.
As reported by Globo.com, the investigation stems from several new accounts created at Betway by people close to Lucas Paquetá who bet on maximum value allowed and it increased their income if Paquetá sees a yellow card in the match between West Ham and Aston Villa on March 12 in the Premier League and Luiz Henrique was scolded in the rivalry between Villarreal and Betis that same day. Paquetá saw the card in the 24th minute of the game and Luiz Henrique, who came on the pitch in the second half, was booked late in the match for “ignoring” one of the referee’s instructions.
