Olympique de Lyon announced this Thursday the transfer of its Cameroonian international striker Karl Toko Ekambi to Saudi club Abha FC for a fee of 1.5 million euros of which 500,000 euros can be added in variables.
Toko Ekambi, who signed for two years, is an old acquaintance of Spanish football from his time in LaLiga. Actually He arrived at Lyon in the 2020 winter market from Villarreal As a loan in exchange for four million euros before the French club acquired it as an asset in the summer of 2021 for 11.5 million euros of mandatory purchase option. He has a contract until 2024.
Toko Ekambi trained at Paris FC (2010-2014) before playing for Sochaux (2014-2016), Angers (2016-2018) and Villarreal (2018-2020). At Lyon he played 114 games and scored 38 goals.
Last winter, in the war with Lyon ultras, he was loaned to Rennes (19 games, 5 goals). He became an international with Cameroon in 55 games scoring 14 goals.
