Sarah Sorribes won the second tournament of his career on Saturday, defeating the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova through 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4 within Cleveland WTA 250which will also allow him to move this Monday from position 95 to 55 in the world ranking.
Sorribes became the lowest-ranked champion to win in Cleveland, in a tournament where she defeated Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic, Veronika Kudermetova of Russia, Sloane Stephens of the United States and Tatjana María of Germany.
The Spanish added the second title of his career after Guadalajara 2021, WTA 250 too.
In the first outright meeting with Alexandrova, Sorribes prevailed after a battle of two hours and 29 minutes in which she recovered a set and a break from behind.
They strung together four consecutive games to tie the game and were broken again in the third, with 2-3 in the light, before finding their way to a new 6-4.
