This Wednesday’s day at the US Open closed with a true battle between two former number 1s and Grand Slam champions. Petra Kvitova and Caroline Wozniacki face off on the Arthur Ashe track in what was the toughest game for the Dane since he returned to the slopes a few weeks ago, three years after his retirement.
The two-time finalist at Flushing Meadows returns to the stage where he has played many times against a familiar foe, in front of a crowd that cheered him on under the center court lights.
Wozniacki, who retired in 2020 to start a family and is playing in her third tournament since her comeback, managed to prevail 7-5, 7-6 in the battle between the Grand Slam champions.
