Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma), leader for the second consecutive day of the 78th Tour of Spain, explained that in the spectacular start of the ninth stage they wanted to be “more aggressive than defensive”, because they know “how strong the wind blows”.

“We just wanted to be all in the lead from the start and we had a point of reference. It is always better to be in front than behind,” he commented.
The American pointed out that after “looking back and seeing that the group was very small” they chose to continue with the attempt to break the stage from the start.
“I had to suffer a lot, but luckily, I had enough strength to help in the group. It was a nervous day, with a lot of wind, but I think I saved it very well. All my teammates impressed me with their performance,” he said.
At the unexpected end of the stage with hours two kilometers from the end, he described the decision made by the organizers as “correct”. “The corners are very slippery, the asphalt is not very good, although the stage is difficult enough for us to take them in small groups,” he said.
To all this he added that “in the last 500 meters there is a lot of mud and it can be dangerous and cause some falls if the runners run”.
Regarding Monday’s rest day, he revealed: “My intention was to go out and train on the time trial bike to practice, although this year I’ve discovered that I do better when I don’t train too much on the ‘goat ‘”, in addition to sharing his family time and several interviews for his status as a leader
