ATK Mogun Bagan, led by Spanish coach Juan Ferrando since December 2021, won the Durand Cup of India for the seventeenth time, the first since 2000, by defeating East Bengal (1-0) in final.
A goal from Greco-Australian Dimitri Petratos in the 71st minute settled the match in Calcutta for the league champions, who did not find it easy against Spanish schoolboys Carles Cuadrat.
This is the second title in India for Ferrando, former coach of teams such as Sheriff Tiraspol, Ergotelis, Leonesa, Linares, Volos and Goa, after winning the Super League in March.
