Argentine soccer coach, Lionel Scaloni, on Wednesday congratulated the Spanish team that was declared champion of the Women’s World Cup on August 20, a victory he described as “historic”.
In a press conference offered at the sports venue that the Argentine Football Association (AFA) has in Ezeiza (province of Buenos Aires), renamed after the Qatar 2022 World Cup as Lionel Messi, the former soccer player said that he should he “congratulates” Spain “because they won a title in a fair way, they played very well, with a very marked way of playing”.
However, he added that it was “sad” that more was said about the performance of the president of the Spanish Federation, Luis Rubiales, who kissed midfielder Jennifer Hermoso without permission at the awards ceremony, “with the enormous success that he has . there was women’s football in the national team”.
