Far from the calculations of the favorites, in the guerilla war that is every stage, the UAE team completed some great last kilometers to prepare for the arrival of his sprinter, Molano, who finally launched to the perfection of Rui Oliveira and ‘placer’ Marc Solerthe funny nickname with which he thanked him for his work.

The relationship in the final meters between the Portuguese and the Colombian was so good that Molano clearly passed Groves, who showed himself to be the most consistent sprinter in the Vuelta so far. Standing on the ground, the hug between Sebas and Rui to celebrate the victory was clear from the work done.

It was the 23rd professional victory for the experienced Colombian cyclist, the fourth of the season after achievements in Touring the UAEhe Denain GP and the Return to Burgos. It was his second victory at the Vuelta, where he already won a stage last year.

More than the stage winner, the young Catalan Abel Balderstone (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), 23 years old and an English father, hence his surname, and the Dutch veteran Jetse Bol (Burgos-BH), 33, was the main star of the day for the getaway they shared since the stage began on Olvega.

Balderstone, debutant at the Vuelta, and Bol, a regular at the other escapes of the Spanish round, had the maximum advantage of more than two minutes, but they were always under the control of the peloton, especially of Alpecin-Deceuninckthe team of sprinter Kaden Groves, winner of two stages this year (4th and 5th) and second at the end at the finish line in Zaragoza.

After more than 100 kilometers of escape, the group neutralized the two brave men of the day 44 km from the finish. Bol turned anyway and started off alone again, although his new attempt, which was bound to fail because of the platoon’s push, lasted almost five kilometers.
