Fun day on Friday, September 8 for the Txuri Urdin internationals. Teams of six of them entered the battle, and they all participated. It’s unusual for so many Real internationals, or all of them to play. This is another symptom of the growth of the txuri urdin entity.
Spain, from trouble to trouble
It is a festival of goals for the Spanish senior and under 21 teams. The team led by Luis De la Fuente did not give Georgia a chance at home, which they beat 1-7, to continue adding points to overcome the current deficit with Scotland. Robin Le Normand was the only Txuri Urdin starter in the senior team, and he completed 90 minutes in the rain of Tbilisi, but, surprisingly, the two main protagonists of Txuri Urdin were Merino and Zubimendi. Both participated in the win off the bench. The Navarrese played for more than half an hour, for Gavi, and allowed himself to leave an incredible assist for Morata to make it 1-5. Finely filtered pass behind the Georgian center back by Spain’s ‘6’, to the delight of football lovers. For his part, and already 1-6, Zubimendi finally got the chance to debut in an official match against Spain. He replaced Rodri in the 72nd minute to play the last 20 minutes, where he received a yellow card.
Sub 21 did not change the route plan. Santi Denia’s side edged past weak Malta in the opening qualifying phase for the European Championship, with Beñat Turrientes starting in midfield. He played 72 minutes and also scored 0-6 seconds before being substituted. He got well from the second line to finish a cross from the right near the post. Realist loanee Robert Navarro doesn’t have any minutes.
Tierney, center back
The other two txuri urdin internationals of the day were foreigners. Hamari Traoré and Kieran Tierney helped their respective Malian and Scottish teams to victory. Both started. The left back acted as a third centre-back throughout the game in a line of five that is now classic in the British team. They did not concede a goal to Cyprus at 0-3 which cemented them as the leaders of the Spanish group.
Finally, Traoré played 62 minutes in the small Mali 3-0 South Sudan, at right back, and did not concede any goals either. His team has already topped the group and qualified for the Africa Cup. Tomorrow is the turn of Take Kubo and his Japan team, who will face Germany in a friendly at 8:45 pm
