After a glacier body was found in the Großvenediger area of East Tyrol, evidence pointed to a once missing alpinist (37). The results of the DNA test are now available.
The police announced the results of the DNA test on Friday evening: The body found was undoubtedly that of the then 37-year-old Austrian who had an accident on the glacier there in 2001. The exact circumstances of the death can probably no longer be clarified.
Found by mountain guides
As reported, a mountain guide came across the body on August 18 at Schlattenkees at 2,900 meters above sea level. Several documents suggested suspicions about the identity, which have now been confirmed.
