Applications Now Available – Floods: Emergency Renovation Assistance Expanded

Date:

After the devastating storms with severe flooding in mid-September, the Ministry of Climate Protection has extended funding for renovations and replacement of heating systems. According to the ministry, a so-called flood impact confirmation from the municipality is required to make use of this.

Applications for financing are now possible. For extensive renovations and partial renovations, the construction age restriction no longer applies. The possibility for further financing arises if the renovation has already been financed in the past.

“This means that targeted support can be sought from those whose four walls are damaged. In addition, every well-insulated house and every replaced heating system makes a valuable contribution to energy independence,” said Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens).

Renovation: 9,000 euros financing per measure
The ministry supports the renovation of individual components (external walls, ceiling on the lowest floor, ceiling on the top floor or windows/external doors) with 9,000 euros per measure. However, the financing limitation of one measure per calendar year no longer applies, nor does the minimum replacement percentage of 75 percent for windows. No energy advice is required. The limitation to a certain construction age no longer applies and it is also possible to apply for further financing.

In the case of an existing fossil heating system that is destroyed by the flood and replaced by a sustainable heating system, this can be replaced immediately and no energy advice is required.

Up to 23,000 euros financing for heating replacement
This includes a connection to district or city heating up to 15,000 euros, a pellet central heating system or wood chip heating system up to 18,000 euros, a wood-fired central heating system up to 16,000 euros, an air-to-water heat pump up to 16,000 euros and a water-to-water or brine-to-water heat pump are financed up to a maximum of 23,000 euros.

In the case of an existing sustainable heating system that has been destroyed by the flood and is exchanged for a sustainable heating system, a subsidy of 5,000 euros and an additional flood surcharge of 2,500 euros apply.

Financing for renovation and replacement of heating can be combined with support from the disaster fund.
