Spain was imposed by 2-1 to South Koreaafter losing the doubles point, which marked the first victory for the Asian team, after eight consecutive defeats, in a meaningless confrontation between both teams, in last day of group C of the Davis Cup Final Phase held in Valencia.
After losing all their matches against the Czech Republic and Serbia in the first two days, leaving them with no chance of qualifying for the Final Eight in Malaga, the Spaniards faced the day with the aim of not finishing last to the group and that some of its members added their first victory in this competition, as achieved by Alejandro Davidovich and Bernabé Zapata in individual events.
Captain David Ferrer, leading for the first time in this Final Phase, gave a break in doubles to Davidovich, who had doubled in the previous two series, and brought the Albert Ramos to form a couple with Marcel Granollers.
The Spanish duo was surpassed by the Koreans Nam Jisung and Song Min-Kyuin an exciting match where they wasted two match points to lose 6-7(2), 7-6(6) and 10-8.
