Dimitrov advanced to the quarterfinals in Chengdu and achieved his 400th victory in 15 years as a professional

Dimitrov’s opponent in the quarterfinals, who was ranked third in the world and is now ranked 20th, is Australian Christopher O’Connell. This season the Bulgarian played in one final, in Geneva, which he lost to Chilean Nicolás Jarry in May.

Lorenzo Musetti, second seed in the tournament, also reached the quarterfinals after overcoming a difficult match against Australian Philip Sekulic, from the qualifying phase. The Italian won the first set tiebreaker, lost the second set and did not concede a single game to his rival in the final.

Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, who eliminated American Marcos Girón, will be Musetti’s opponent in the next round.
