The German Alexander Zverev, seeded first in the Chengdu tournament, will play in the final against Russian Roman Safiullin in search of their second title this year, after Hamburg.
For Safiullin, the one in Chengdu was his first final on the professional circuit, at the age of 26.
Zverev beats Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in semifinals, 6-3, 7-6 (2). In the second set both competitors won their serve without problems and the tiebreaker was clearly dominated by the Germans.
In the other semi-final Safiullin, 55th in the ATP, had no trouble with the departure of the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (n.18), by 6-3 and 6-4. He has already beaten him once, in 2019 in Bergamo.
Zverev and Safiullin have only met once beforeat Roland Garros in 2021, with a victory for the German.
The Chengdu tournament, on hard courts, has the ATP 250 category.
