The Russian Karen Khachanovnumber 15 in the world and main favorite of Zhuhai Tournament (China), defeated the Japanese in the final on Tuesday Yoshihito Nishioka (46) by 7-6(2) and 6-1and conquered his fifth ATP title after five years of drought.
The final of the Chinese tournament, played on a hard surface, brought the rivals together for the fifth time, with a 4-1 advantage for the Russian.
After a relatively even first set, which had to be decided on a tie-break, the tennis player from Moscow showed his qualities and connected five consecutive games in the second to secure the win.
In 2018, Khachanov won the most important title of his career, the Paris Masters 1,000, by defeating the current world number one, Serbian Novak Djokovic, in the final.
